What made you decide to build a bamboo bike?

A friend mentioned that you could build bike frames out of bamboo. It seemed a bit ridiculous at first, but I was quickly sold on the idea after swinging by the workshop seeing what could be built, and experiencing the ride quality of bamboo frames first hand. The level of customisability, finish, and ride quality is unique to bamboo

Did you enjoy building the bicycle from scratch and would you recommend the experience?

I thoroughly enjoyed building the bike from scratch. I'd recommend the experience to anyone who likes building things or wants to fully customise a bike.

What did you find most difficult about your bike build?

Definitely the finishing of the bike. I'm a perfectionist and wanted to get the best finish I possibly could so spent a lot of time sanding down and polishing the lugs.
What was the easiest part of the build?
Cutting the bamboo and drinking beers!

How would you describe the ride of your finished bike?

The ride is very smooth, stable and super comfortable.

What would you improve about the build experience or your finished bike?

I'd probably read up more on the process first, as this would have sped up the build significantly, and also made it clearer what impacts the finish of the bike. I'd have probably spent way less time finishing the frame if I'd been more careful wrapping the flax for my lugs!
